After dying, a woman awakens inside a novel she once read reborn as a doomed extra destined to be killed while protecting the heroine from a villainess. Determined to change her fate, she decides to win the villainess over and turn her into an ally. But as she grows closer to her, unexpected misunderstandings arise, and others begin to believe she possesses mysterious powers that could change the fate of the entire world.

The MC comes from a modernish society that knows magic. She was a powerful dark magician before dying. She then reincarnates into a novel she read and fangirls over the villainess (her favorite character) while falling for the northern duke (a guy that happens to be exactly her taste). She does not ‘try to seduce’ any girls.

Anyways, this story avoids most of my standard romance fantasy complaints. The villainess might speak harshly, but she is kind to her people. The original female lead might be narcissistic, but she’s also sane enough to talk to. There might be three male leads, but the story builds multiple ships instead of a trashy harem better off sinking.

Unfortunately, it does still suffer from the MC not realizing that changing the timeline changes the future; she gets regularly surprised when things stop following the book she read. Also, the author completely ignores how the obvious solution is to simply kill the source of evil and then look for evidence after (in-story, it’s implied they don’t because of politics. However, refusing to respond as the enemy continuously sends assassins is pure idiocy.)

Overall, I’d call this a 6/10 addition to the genre. The characters lack the charisma to truly hook my attention, but it was a nice read. I also got tired of the plot by chapter 60 something, but the story ending at chapter 82 meant it was very easy to start skimming to the end.
